Shows – riding Shetlands western

The Hoffman girls of LP Painted Ponys started showing in 1998. Sierra and Madira showed western while Skye usually showed english (hunt seat). Here are some pics – July 1998 –

Katie and Vixen Our Shetlands were only shown a handful of times before the girls’ outgrew them and graduated to larger Shetland X’s. While riding the Shetland X’s, they usually showed hunt seat, both on the flat and over fences, not western. Our purebred Shetlands were the perfect size to introduce our daughters to the show ring at open shows. Now, in 2016, we are getting Skye’s daughters – our granddaughters – ready to start showing. For now, they will be doing lead line in western tack. When they are older, we will see which riding disciplines they want to participate in.
