Bit purchased from Rosvold Farms & transported by Platte Ridge Farm to IA & arrived at LP Painted Ponys on 21 September 2009.
Bit was purchased in 2009 along with her full sister as our start back into breeding purebred Shetland ponies. We also had the desire to start driving matched pairs and hitches of which both were the start.
Bit wasn’t so easy to get started in harness. She became known as my “squeaky wheel” and got the extra work that her sister didn’t need. From January 2010 through November 2010, the ponies and I went to driving lessons every Tuesday. Bit not only became a quiet single driving pony, but also part of a pair, 3-abreast and 4-abreast hitches. She was a lead line pony before our purchase and was a riding lesson pony from late 2009 to 2010 for us. She still gets ridden now and then. Due to the loss of sight in her left eye, she does better as a multiple hitch pony on the right side of her partner. She drives both with and with out blinders.
